If so, thank God.

There are only so many S2Ks, 350Zs and other real, CHEAP sports cars left. No need to ruin even more of them by destroying undercarriages/engine pans or totalling them thanks to shit suspensions on unsafe tires.

I am all for modifying cars to one's personal tastes.... unless of course, that means absolutely ruining them.

I duno about all of oppo but I have a strong dislike for most things stance. I can only accept the 1% that are properly built on bags, even then I dislike the way they look. That s2k just looks broken.

Bagged cars are a whole different... bag. If for no other reason than the fact that they can be raised up, and by extension not destroyed. Also I don't really see bagged cars on stretched tires.

I'm a little in the gray on stance. I hate seeing a performance car ruined by it, but a car that has zero sporting potential from the get-go can be made more interesting or visually appealing by lowering it on some cool wheels.

All that said, lower a car all you want but please for the love of God don't stretch tires. That I have no mercy for.

this implies that previously there was a lot of love for stance around here? I don't think that has been the case.

Yeah I don't mind bagged cars either. As long as they're assembled properly.

I wouldn't consider something mildly lowered and still drivable "stanced". And I think something like a Jetta TDI isn't necessarily ruined by being stanced. I mean, it is, but it never had the potential for much else anyway, aside from being a great daily driver. It's the extremes and ruined sports cars that boil my blood.

Man, I don't like that people that enjoy stance are immidiately called stancebros or douches.

I don't get the point of lowering your car to the breaking point. Can someone clue me in?

I'm speaking more to the folks doing the building, though stance fans enable and encourage them.

Many stancebros enjoy the negative attention as well, hence the proliferation of "I Love Haters" stickers, which make my blood boil. There is no art or purpose to stance. It's pretty formulaic and easy with a high credit card limit. AND it destroys many great cars in the process. What is there to be enjoyed about stance?

I'm all for people modifying cars however they want as long as it's done properly and safely, and doesn't adversely affect performance much of at all. Mostly because of accident avoidance and general control reasons, you don't want a car to do something unexpected at the wrong time.

This one dumbass service writer at my shop used to have a '12 Tacoma. He got a lowering kit from eBay that included arms and braces to notch the frame. Then also proceeded to cut the springs and remove leaves from the rear, leaving about 1.5 inches of travel and shocks outside of optimum range. He ignored my warnings to weld the frame where it was notched and just bolted the braces in, as well as my warnings to re-route brake lines to avoid damage. He wore through his bump stops, then through his brake lines, then taco'd and cracked his frame. Somehow I forgot about the part where his driveshaft is now too long because of the changed geometry. The dust shield around the output shaft seal on the transmission wore a nice groove in the yoke on the driveshaft. That's the wrong way to do things.

I hate stance. I don't mind non performance cars getting stanced, as there are a ton of beige models to improve the look on, but I fucking hate the dudebros and douche bags who do it on performance cars.

That one there pictured is the one I bought a couple months ago. 2005, 70k, 6MT, and Daytona Blue Metallic. Had a rebuilt title, took it to the local Nissan dealer for a full inspection, they found nothing. Bought it for $8000

Thats pretty good. I paid more for one with more mileage. I'm in an area where there aren't a lot of cars though

With clean titles they run from $13k (base model '04) up to $23k (Touring w/ Navigation, convertible, '08). Personally I feel like base model with 6MT is perfect, and the rebuilt title hasn't manifested itself in any problems, so I'm quite happy. Kinda wish it had a limit slip diff though.

What people enjoy about stance is how lowness can improve or totally transform a car.

The builders build the cars to their taste, and sometimes when they build a controversial car, like with camber or really low, they enjoy the negative comments and take their car a bit further to see how far he can go. But that is just a small minority, Most people are just looking for perfect fitment of the wheels. I don't think that it is easy to do.
